Café SERU No. 9 on effort estimation

Café SERU No. 9 on effort estimation

Jirat Pasuksmit, a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne and an expert in agile software development, gave Café SERU No. 9, “Effort Estimation for a Reliable Sprint Planning in Agile Iterative Development”, on 21 December 2022 at the Faculty of ICT. In Scrum and similar methods, a team plans its work in sprints of two to four weeks and estimates the effort by consensus, for example with Planning Poker. Such estimates are prone to error, which wastes team effort on re-planning. The talk covered the common reasons for inaccurate estimates, their impact, and advice for practitioners on reliable effort estimation and sprint planning. People joined both onsite and online, and the recording is on YouTube.
