Café SERU No. 10 and a visit from JAIST

Dr. Teeradaj Racharak of the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) spent three days with SERU from 25 to 27 October 2023. On the first day he gave Café SERU No. 10, “Interpretable Decision Tree Ensemble Learning with Abstract Argumentation for Binary Classification”, in room A2 of the MU AI Center, with mini-talks by his three summer interns from SERU, Runchana Seesung, Siranut Akarawuthi, and Nitit Ngamphotchanamongkol. His Arguing Tree Ensemble learns a group of decision trees and lets them argue with each other to reach a prediction, so users can follow and check how the model decided.

• He interviewed candidates for the next summer's internships at JAIST on 25 October.
• On 26 October he discussed research papers with the three summer interns and met Suphawit Xu, a fourth-year student about to start a one-month internship at JAIST in December.
• Chayanee Junplong, who was about to begin a four-month internship at JAIST, met him on 27 October.
