Competition study accepted at MSR 2026
A paper by Yuki Takei and Prof. Toshiaki Aoki of JAIST and Chaiyong Ragkhitwetsagul of Mahidol University was accepted in the Technical Papers track of MSR 2026, the 23rd International Conference on Mining Software Repositories, which CORE ranks A. Titled “Quantifying Competitive Relationships Among Open-Source Software Projects”, it introduces MIAO (Mutual Impact Analysis of OSS). MIAO applies structural vector autoregressive models, a method common in macroeconomics, to measure how open-source projects compete with each other. Across 187 groups of related projects, it identified projects at risk of ceasing development under competitive pressure with up to 81% accuracy. The conference took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 13 and 14 April 2026.
