Knowledge transfer study accepted in JSS
Our study “Automated Software Engineering Knowledge Transfer: A Case Study on Small and Medium-Sized Software Enterprises in Thailand” has been accepted in the Journal of Systems and Software (JSS), a Q1 journal, in a special issue on Evaluation and Assessment in Industrial Software Engineering. We worked with four small and medium-sized software companies in Thailand and compared their practice before and after they adopted automated software engineering tools and techniques. The data came from an online survey, retrospective meetings, and interviews. The study completes our Newton Fund project, funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK, and Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI).
- The knowledge transfer activities were somewhat successful in raising awareness and adoption of these tools in the four companies.
- Knowledge transfer works best when it fits the needs of each company.
- Support from researchers was crucial for adoption.
- Studies with such companies need to allow for rapid changes in teams and projects.
The paper appeared in volume 236 of the journal in June 2026.
