Honorable Mention at NSC 2026
DepSecLens, a web tool that checks the security of a Python project's dependencies, received an Honorable Mention at the 28th National Software Contest (NSC 2026). Chayanid Termphaiboon, Thitapha Singtho, and Papopporn Thongnarintr presented it on 24 July at the Faculty of Science, Silpakorn University, and went on to the final round. The tool grew out of research. Chayanid first studied how PyPI packages declare security policies during an internship at NAIST, and that study became a paper at the ASE 2025 workshops. DepSecLens draws on OSV.dev and the OpenSSF Scorecard and adds an LLM assistant for questions about a project's dependencies.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Morakot Choetkiertikul advised the team. Prof. Raula Gaikovina Kula of The University of Osaka and Youmei Fan of NAIST worked with the students on the empirical study of security in software dependencies, the study that grew into the tool. ICT Mahidol and NAIST have worked on dependency security together for years, from V-Achilles at ASE 2022 to DepSecLens.
